Stocks rise for second consecutive day

The Dhaka bourse continued rising for the second consecutive day today, as investors hope the national budget for 2021-22 fiscal year to be announced tomorrow will give a boost to the market.
DSEX, benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), soared 25 points, or 0.42 per cent, to 6,019 today.
Turnover, another important indicator of the market, rose 20 per cent to Tk 2,287 crore.
Stock investors hope the proposed budget will not leave any negative impact on the market, analysts said.
Rather, the participation of general investors rose as they believe there would be some positive steps in the budget for the market.
At the DSE, 164 stocks advanced, 146 fell and 57 remained unchanged.
Global Insurance topped the gainers' list that rose 18 per cent on the DSE floor followed by GSP Finance, Pacific Denims, Fortune Shoes and Shasha Denims.
Beximco became the top traded stock with shares worth Tk 84 crore changing hands followed by Dutch-Bangla Bank, LankaBangla Finance, Global Insurance, and Rupali Insurance.
Social Islami Bank shed the most that lost 7.53 per cent followed by Asia Insurance, Northern Insurance, AIBL First Mutual Fund, Bangladesh National Insurance Company.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange also advanced on the day.
The CASPI, the general index of the port city bourse, increased 66 points, or 0.38 per cent, to 17,442.
Among the traded 300 stocks, 138 rose, 121 fell and 41 remained unchanged.
