Stocks fall for second day
The stock index continued to drop for the second consecutive day as investors are feeling shaky because of the falling trend of remittance, foreign exchange reserve amid higher inflationary pressure.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), fell 30 points, or 0.48 per cent, to 6,324 today.
Turnover of the Dhaka bourse, however, rose to Tk 702 crore, up from the previous day's Tk 679 crore.
At the DSE, 77 stocks advanced, 259 dropped and 45 remained the same.
Both DS30, the blue-chip index, and DSES, shariah based index, lost 11 points and 7 points respectively.
Meghna Condensed Milk topped the gainers' list that rose 9.55 per cent. Libra Infusion, Eastern Cables, Meghna Pet Industries, and Usmania Glass Sheet Factory also advanced significantly.
Robi Axiata shed mostly that eroded 2 per cent. Advent Pharma, Orion Pharmaceuticals, Prime Textiles, and Pragati Life Insurance were among the heavy losers.
Fortune Shoes became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 49 crore changing hands followed by Beximco Ltd, IPDC Finance, Titas Gas Distribution and Transmission and Delta Life Insurance.
