Seventh edition of BASIS Outsourcing Award launched

The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) today launched the seventh edition of its flagship event "BASIS Outsourcing Award" with an aim at bringing more youth into freelancing and creating skilled manpower.
Some 100 awards – 20 at the institutional level and 80 at the individual level – will be conferred following a step-by-step screening process.
At the organisation level, there will be five awards in the 'Outsourcing Organisation' category, five in the 'Startup' category and 10 in the 'Export Excellence' category.
At the individual level, the awards will be given to 64 individuals from 64 Districts, 6 individuals in the individual women's category and 10 in the outsourcing professional category.
"The government has set a target of to earn $5 billion in export revenue by 2025 from the software, ITES sector and digital devices," Syed Almas Kabir, president of BASIS, said at a press conference at its office in Dhaka.
"For that we need skilled youth," he said.
"We need to further strengthen public-private initiatives to improve our skills to innovate new products and services to expand the country's reach in the international market."
Bank Asia is the platinum sponsor of the BASIS event.
BASIS Senior Vice President Farhana A Rahman, Vice President for Finance Mushfiqur Rahman, Director Rashad Kabir and Senior Executive Vice President of Bank Asia Md Zia Arfin were also present.
