Dhaka stock rises slightly

The index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) rose slightly although its blue-chip index dropped today.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of DSE, rose 10 points, or 0.15 per cent, to 6,667 at the end of the day.
Turnover of the Dhaka Stock Exchange also surged 29 per cent to Tk 766 crore from the previous day's Tk 593 crore.
At the end of the trading, DS30, the blue-chip index, dropped 2 points and DSES, the shariah based index, increased 1 point. Out of 381 stocks, 163 advanced, 160 declined and 58 remain unchanged.
Imam Button topped the gainers' list with about a 10 per cent rise. Bangladesh Monospool Paper Manufacturing, Bashundhara Paper Mills, Sonali Paper, and Peninsula Chittagong also saw major gains.
Eastern Bank shed the most with a 10 per cent drop. United Commercial Bank, Provati Insurance, Gemini Sea Food, and National Tea were among the heavy losers.
Beximco Ltd became the most traded stock with shares worth Tk 52 crore changing hands followed by JMI Hospital, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Orion Pharmaceuticals, and Sonali Paper.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) dropped today. The Caspi, the main index of the CSE, fell 20 points, or 0.10 per cent, to close the day at 19,578.
Of the 260 stocks traded, 103 rose, 127 fell, and 30 did not see any price movement.
