City Bank gets new DMD

City Bank PLC has appointed Md Ashanur Rahman to the post of deputy managing director (DMD), according to a press release issued by the bank.
Prior to assuming this new role, Rahman served as chief economist and country business manager, holding the rank of senior executive vice-president.
Bringing with him over 20 years of experience in the banking sector, Rahman commenced his career at Mercantile Bank in 2004 as a management trainee officer.
He joined City Bank in 2008 during a transformation phase, where he played an instrumental role in revamping the bank's credit, legal, and recovery functions.
He also spearheaded the establishment of the risk management division.
Following a five-year tenure with the Royal Bank of Canada, Rahman returned to City Bank in 2019 to resume his role as chief economist and country business manager.
Since his return, he has led several strategic initiatives, including the launch of bancassurance.
Rahman is an active member of various key internal committees, including the write-off loan recovery committee, settlement committee, KPI driving committee, and the rewards and recognition committee.
With this promotion, Rahman is poised to play a pivotal role in steering City Bank's continued growth and strategic direction, the press release added.
He completed his graduation from Jahangirnagar University and the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management, and also pursued studies in investment funds in Canada.
