1 million jobs to be created in IT sector this year

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said that about 1 million jobs will be created in the country's IT sector in 2021 to achieve the goal of "Digital Bangladesh".
This will take the overall employment in the sector to 2 million, according to the minister.
The ongoing 4th Industrial Revolution has opened up the door to create unprecedented new employment opportunities for skilled manpower both at home and abroad. Besides, the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals, Vision 2041, and Delta Plan 2100 has created huge employment opportunities in the country for people skilled in science and technical knowledge, said Kamal while proposing the budget for fiscal 2021-22 today.
"Thanks to the right policies and fruitful action plans of the government, a large section of the youth of Bangladesh is already enjoying the benefits of such modern and technology dependent employment," he said.
According to Kamal, more than 50 percent of our population is young, whereas it is not more than 20-25 percent in the developed world.
"More than 2 million people are entering our labour market every year. This means we need to create employment opportunities for the new entrants," he said.
