Boy shot dead, 7 others bullet-hit in Narsingdi
A schoolboy was shot dead and seven others, including his father and two brothers, were bullet-hit in an attack by robbers at Uttar Satirpara in Sadar upazila early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Ahmad Ali, 15, son of Shahid Mia, 40, of the area.
Officer in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station Abul Kashem said a gang numbering 10/12, stormed the house of trader Mainuddin at Uttar Satirpara (Rangamatia) adjacent to the town's market around 1:30am.
Hearing hue and cry when neighbour Shahid came out of the house, the robbers opened fire at him and his family members, leaving him and his three sons, including Ahmad Ali, and three others injured with bullets.
The injured were rushed to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Ahmad Ali, a Class VIII student at a local school, dead.
Of the injured, Shahid and his another son Mohammad Ali, 20, were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as their condition deteriorated.
Police and locals said, the robbers looted at least four houses in the area and opened fire on the members of the families.
The three other houses are owned by Amit Saha, Soumik Saha and Ranjit Sarkar.
The gang looted gold, cash money and mobile phone sets from the houses in the early hours around 3:00am.
In Moulvibazar Sadar, armed robbers looted valuables worth Tk 5 lakh and two members of the family of Pradip Dey, 45, at Soyerpur early yesterday, reports our correspondent.
The other injured are his wife Shipa Dey, 39, and son Protim Dey, 14.
In another incident in Barolekha upazila, a gang took away gold, cash and other valuables worth Tk 10 lakh from the house of Sirajuddin, 60, around 2:00am.
The gang also injured Siraj and his son Zakaria, 25, during the robbery.
In Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj, robbers looted the house of Ratan Das early yesterday at Chhoigaon village and injured three members of his family.
However, locals caught three alleged members of the gang while they were fleeing the scene after committing the robbery, our correspondent, quoting police said.
