Blast blows off Bogra housewife’s wrists

Both wrists of a housewife were blown off by an explosion at Sonatola upazila in Bogra this afternoon.
Though the blast took place during the countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance, it was not clear who were responsible for it.  
The victim was identified as Rebeka Sultana Ranjana, 28, wife of Rezaul Karim, who is the Digdair Union secretary of the ruling Awami League, reports our Bogra correspondent.
Locals said the woman saw a bag at her kitchen at Mulgram village around 2:00pm. The explosion took place when she threw it into a dustbin outside her house, blowing off both her wrists.
She was rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital.
Her husband blamed the pickets for the blast but police said they will be able to come to a conclusion after an investigation into the incident.
Asked if pickets were behind the blast, Selim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sonatola Police Station, told The Daily Star that they have information about the involvement of any pro-hartal activists in the incident.
The police officer said they will investigate the incident to find out the facts.
