Banker rescued 5hrs after abduction in capital
Rapid Action Battalion rescued a bank official around five hours after his abduction and arrested seven alleged abductors in the capital's Mirpur Saturday night.
Abul Khayer Alok, 28, son of Abul Hossain, works at Brac Bank, Gulshan Head Office.
The arrested are Masudur Rahman, Dipu Ibn Khan, Saddam Hossain, Abdullah Al-Mamun, Arafat Munshi, Sajedul Hoque and Imran Khan.
Before the abduction, Alok got unconscious after eating a chocolate, having sedative effect, given by a girl at Mirpur-1, Maj KM Ariful Islam of Rab-4 told a press briefing at its headquarters yesterday.
Alok talked to the girl, who introduced herself as Liza, over cellphone for several days, he said.
The kidnappers demanded Tk 5 lakh from Alok's brother, he said adding that the family sent Tk 1.7 lakh through SA Paribahan courier service.
Saddam and Sajedul were held at the courier's Mirpur-10 office around 9:30pm, added Ariful.
Later, Alok was rescued and the other five were arrested in a house in Shah Ali area.
