Bank Asia reelects vice chairmen
Mohd Safwan Choudhury and AM Nurul Islam Anu have recently been reelected as the vice chairmen of Bank Asia, the bank said in a statement yesterday.
Choudhury is an industrialist and a former president of Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is also the chairman of Bangladesh Tea Association and president of Friends in Village Development Bangladesh, an NGO providing education to under-privileged children.
A former teacher of Dhaka University, Anu was a private secretary to the late Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and joint secretary to the president of Bangladesh.
He worked as an economic diplomat in Washington DC and was a director of National Bank. He has also served as chairman of Bank Asia's audit committee for three years.
He currently heads the risk management committee of the bank. Anu is also financial adviser of Opex Group.
