Police rescue 2-year-old from Satkhira three days after abduction by ‘NGO worker’
Police have rescued a two-year-old from Sonabaria village in Satkhira's Kolaroa upazila three days after the child was abducted by a woman pretending to be an NGO worker.
The child, Tasin, was returned to the parents, said Uttam Kumar Biswas, officer-in-charge of Bagachara police outpost.
Salma Khatun (23) and Lutfar Gazi (55) were arrested on suspicion of their involvement in the incident, the police official said.
On January 20, Salma Khatun, identifying herself as an NGO worker, went to Tasin's house and told the parents that they are eligible for a pregnancy card which would give them Tk 30,000 at a time.
Later she took two-year-old Tasin's mother and grandfather to Bagachara Bazar for breakfast and to pay them the promised Tk 30,000, said Uttam Kumar Biswas.
When they were seated for breakfast at Rifat Hotel in Bagachara, the woman managed to take Tasin and leave the hotel.
The child's father Ashraful filed a complaint with the Bagachara Police Outpost in this connection. Tasin was rescued following joint efforts from Sharsha police, Bagachara police outpost and PBI.
