Police today barred a procession brought out by left-leaning student organisations -- demanding reopening of all educational institutions -- in front of the education ministry.

The procession started from Dhaka University's Teachers-Students Centre around 11:45pm.

When it reached near Secretariat link road, around 12:45pm, police put barricade on the road and resisted them.

After being resisted, leaders of the organisations placed their three-point demand. 

President of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Al Kaderi Joy said, "Our demands are: all educational institutions must reopen and all students must be vaccinated."

Tuition fees of students should be waived during the pandemic, he further said.

"The 15 percent income tax on colleges, universities must be removed," Joy added.
