Prime minister to inaugurate two new Dash 8Q-400 aircraft on Sunday
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the two new Dash 8Q-400 aircrafts on Sunday. The state-of-the-art aircraft were added to the Biman Bangladesh Airlines' fleet recently.
The inaugural event via video conferencing will be held at 10:30am on Sunday at the VVIP Terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said a Biman press release.
The two aircraft are the second and third of three purchased on a government-to-government basis from Canada.
The prime minister has named the two aircrafts "Akashtari" and "Shwetabalaka".
Biman has plans to increase flight frequency on domestic and short-haul international routes by adding the state-of-the-art technology equipped Dash aircraft to its fleet, the press release said.
The 74-seater aircraft built by Canadian aircraft manufacturer De Haviland is known for its low-cost and smooth flight from very short runways.
This model of aircraft has cabin noise suppression system. The eco-friendly and well-equipped aircraft has HEPA filter technology that completely purifies the air inside the aircraft by destroying bacteria, viruses and other germs in just four minutes.
The aircraft will also have more leg space, LED lighting and wide windows to make travel more comfortable and enjoyable.
