‘Lockdown’ likely to be extended after May 16, police could be given magistracy power

The government is likely to extend the ongoing restriction on movement and public transport for another week, considering the current Covid-19 pandemic situation.

"The government is considering extending the ongoing restrictions for another week after May 16," State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain told Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

At the same time, the government might give magistracy power to police to ensure the use of masks, he said.

Earlier, the ongoing restriction on movement and public transport was extended till May 16.
