Independence Day observations in photos

The nation is observing the 53rd Independence and National Day today with various programmes to pay deep homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country in 1971.

Marking the day, President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the martyrs at National Memorial in Savar.

Different political parties, socio-cultural organisations and educational institutions have taken up various programmes to mark the day.
