Comilla University begins in-person exams
The authorities of Comilla University have started taking in-person examinations -- postponed due to Covid-19 situation -- from today, maintaining health guidelines.
Confirming the development, Nurul Karim Chowdhury, deputy controller of examinations of the university, said students of different batches have been sitting for the final and mid-term exams today.
The authorities earlier held classes online, he added.
Starting from 9:00am, the administrative activities will continue till 5:00pm today.
Nurul Karim, also acting controller of examinations, said, "The final exams (semester final) of different departments -- management, marketing, accounting, statistics, ICT, English and public administration -- have started today."
Four buses of the university have been running since this morning for the students and teachers, said Emdadul Haque, public relations officer of the university. "The number of buses will be increased, if needed," he said.
The university has been closed since March 17 last year due to coronavirus pandemic. Though the authorities started to take exams on December 20 last year, the university administration again stopped exams on February 23 following a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases.
On June 3, Comilla University decided to hold in-person exams. The authorities took the decision as the University Grants Commission (UGC) on June 1 instructed public universities to hold examinations in person.
