Shamsher Mobin quits for Nurul Islam Nahid

Former BNP leader Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, who rejoined politics and secured nomination from Bikalpadhara Bangladesh, has quit election race.

“I am quitting in support of the grand alliance candidate,” Mobin, currently a presidium member of Bikalpadhara, told The Daily Star this evening.

Shamsher Mobin had retired from BNP politics as its vice-chairman in 2015, only to return in the politics of Bikalpadhara on October 26, ahead of the election.

Shamhser Mobin secured Bikalpadhara’s nomination from Sylhet-6 constituency. He secured ‘kula’ polls symbol from the local returning officer.

Bikalpadhara is in an alliance with ruling Awami League, the ruling party that has placed current Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid as its candidate in the seat.
