AL alliance puts 303 candidates in 300 seats

Awami League’s election alliance has put forward 303 candidates to contest in the upcoming general election for 300 constituencies.

Ruling Awami League has submitted its final list of 258 candidates; who will be contesting in the general election under the party’s banner.

In its list submitted to the Election Commission today, the final day of setting candidates, it has given 16 seats to alliance members and left 26 seats vacant.

Jatiya Party has announced that it will be contesting under the party symbol ‘Plough’ in 29 constituencies.

Summing it all up, Awami League’s alliance is now faced with three extra candidates.

WHEN IS THE ELECTION?

The 11th general election will be held on December 30. It was deferred once by the Election Commission upon demands from the opposition political parties.

As per the polls schedule, the deadline for filing the nomination papers was November 28. Since then, the commission has been engaged in hearing appeals of rejected candidates.

After December 9, the last date for nomination withdrawal, the commission will allot polls symbols to contestant and open the field for campaigning.
