“A total of 1,016 platoons of BGB forces have been deployed across Bangladesh to control the law and order situation,” he said this afternoon.

Talking to reporters, Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam said the paramilitary force has been deployed to remove the fear of all including the political parties.

Rafiqul Islam said different media reported that the law and order situation has been deteriorated in the country and many political parties are demanding army deployment, he said.

“But the army deployed is the time-consuming issue, so the BGB has been deployed," he added.

WHEN IS THE ELECTION?

Election Commission has revised polls schedule, deferring the 11th general election by a week to December 30 – a decision taken earlier this week.

According to the schedule, the authorities fixed November 28 as the deadline for filing nomination papers, December 2 for scrutiny and December 9 last date of withdrawal.
