Six killed as truck rams human haulier

Six people were killed and three others injured as a truck rammed a human haulier at Shibpur in the district's Gouripur upazila yesterday evening.

The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. They were from Kishoreganj, police said.

Morshedul Hasan, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Gouripur Police Station, said the accident occurred on Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road when the Mymensingh town-bound truck hit the human haulier from the opposite direction around 6:45pm, killing a man on the spot and injuring eight others.

The injured were first taken to Ishwarganj Upazila Health Complex where two of them died. 

The other wounded were then shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Three of them died there later, hospital sources said.

Police seized the truck but its driver and helper managed to flee.

A case was filed with Gouripur Police Station.
