Shahidul Alam, a noted photographer and founder of Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, was attacked allegedly by ruling party activists on Saturday afternoon.

“I was attacked a little while ago near City College because I was taking a video of Chhatra League students shouting 'Joy Bangla' and slightly before that attacking [on] students,” he said on the video that went viral.

Soon after the attack, Shahidul took shelter inside a nearby guest house from where he went live on his Facebook page to narrate the incident.

He later uploaded a photo of a broken camera on Facebook, with the caption, “Remains of my OSMO”.
