Policeman held with 10,000 yaba pills

A sub-inspector was held with 10,000 yaba tablets in Chattogram yesterday.

Members of the Counter Terrorism (CT) unit of the Chattogram Metropolitan Police and Rab caught Siddiqur Rahman in Agrabad area following a tip-off, said Md Shahidullah, deputy commissioner of CMP CT unit.

“The officials stopped him while he was riding a motorcycle in plainclothes at CGS colony around 7:30pm,” said the DC.

He said the contraband methamphetamine-based pills were being carried inside a bag that police found after searching the motorcycle.

Further drives were on in the area based on information gleaned from Siddiqur, said the officer.

Siddiqur was recently posted to CMP traffic (port division) after being transferred from Shikalbaha police outpost in Karnaphuli upazila.
