Missing girl found dead 4 days later
Police recovered the body of a minor girl from an under construction building in Thakurgaon town yesterday, four days after she had gone missing.
Victim Sumona Aktar, 9, went to visit one of her neighbours’ house on Sunday and had remained missing since then, said her father Jewel Hossain.
Failing to find Sumona, her father filed a general diary with Thakurgaon Police Station on Monday, said Ashikur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Police recovered the body from an under construction building of neighbouring Yasin in Goalpara area of Thakurgaon municipality, he added.
“The body of Sumona was buried after murder,” the law enforcer said.
After police recovered the body, the victim’s father said Sumona frequently visited Yasin’s house and they had never thought that something of this sort could happen there.
As soon as the news of Sumona’s death spread in the area, locals, including her schoolmates and teachers, formed a human chain at Thakurgaon intersection in the town on Friday. They demanded justice for the victim from the procession.
Meanwhile, police arrested a teenager in connection with the case around 8:00pm on Thursday and kept him in custody for quizzing.
