Bangladeshi man tortured to death by BSF
A Bangladeshi man was tortured to death by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Kushkhali border of Satkhira Sadar upazila early yesterday, his family members claimed.
Kabirul Hosen Molla, 32, was the son of Abdul Aziz Molla from Kalani Chhoy Ghoriya village in the upazila.
Rabiul Islam Molla, younger brother of the victim, said Kabirul, along with few others, went to the Dudli area of West Bengal’s Uttar Chabbish Pargana district to bring some smuggled goods, including tea leaves, on Friday night.
Spotting the group, members of BSF chased them and caught Kabirul while the others managed to flee, Rabiul added.
“BSF (men) tortured my brother and poured kerosene in his mouth and rectum before dumping him in the no man’s land along the border around 10:00pm,” he claimed.
Mustafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, said locals recovered Kabirul and rushed him to Satkhira Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Several marks of torture were found on the victim’s body, said the OC.
Rabiul also claimed that Kabirul described the whole incident to him before he breathed his last in the hospital.
Lt Col Golam Mohiuddin Khandakar, commanding officer of BGB-33 Battalion, said, “We are trying to find out whether BSF is responsible for the incident or it was caused by any internal feud.”
