21-member education committee formed

EDUCATION COMMISSION FORMED
Following Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's declaration to introduce people-oriented education in Bangladesh, the government has formed a 21-member education committee. The committee will be headed by eminent educationist Dr Muhammad Qudrat-i-Khuda. The committee will collect opinions of different sections of the population and submit a detailed proposal to reform the existing education system.
CABINET MEETS
On the second day of the Cabinet meeting, the members unanimously agree on a detailed plan to check price hikes. The cabinet meeting was presided over by Bangabandhu. The Cabinet also decides to increase supply of essential goods like sugar.
OFFICIAL RELATIONSHIP ESTABLISHED BETWEEN BANGLADESH AND THE US
The newly appointed American Chargé d'affaires Herbert D Spivack today submits his credential to the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Abdus Samad Azad. Later, he calls on Finance Minister Tajuddin Ahmad and discusses various bilateral issues. Yesterday, Bangladeshi Chargé d'affaires Enayet Karim submitted his credential along with a letter from Bangabandhu to the US Government.
POLICE REFORM PROPOSAL TABLED
A reform proposal for the police force has been tabled recently, informs a government source. The goal of the reform project is to build a pro-people police force invested with the spirit of the Liberation War. It will also help bring a revolutionary change in the mindset of the members of police as well as the general people's perception about them, adds the government source. The proposal also includes recruitment of adequate number of police personnel, extended training schemes and purchase of modern weapons and ammunition.
