Ministry set to dismiss cub diplomat
The foreign ministry is set to dismiss its young diplomat charged with shoplifting during training in The Hague, the Netherlands, in February.
“We have taken appropriate actions under disciplinary rules of the government and a process in this regard is underway for his dismissal from the foreign service,” Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque told reporters yesterday.
Mahbub Shahid Shishir, an assistant secretary at the foreign ministry who was on probation period, was caught red-handed while shoplifting in an electronic shop during his stay in The Hague.
Meanwhile, the foreign secretary informed the reporters at a press conference yesterday that the government was sending an inquiry team to Bangladesh Mission in Doha, Qatar, to investigate allegations against its officials, including Ambassador Syed Masud Mahmood Khundoker.
