Low forms over Bay
The country's four maritime ports have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal number three as a deep convection is taking place over the North Bay of Bengal.
Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining costal areas of Bangladesh, according to a Met office bulletin.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
Met office sources say light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind are likely to occur at most places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions. Besides, moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in many places in Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions and elsewhere in the country, they add.
The Met office is specially monitoring the weather in Chittagong as a day-night One-Day International cricket match between Bangladesh and England is scheduled there today. The Met office last night said they could make apparently accurate forecast about rainfall in Chittagong in the morning today.
They expressed the hope that the rain would stop by afternoon in Chittagong.
