Job of eight HC judges regularised

President Abdul Hamid has regularised the jobs of eight additional judges of the High Court and left out one additional judge.

Their services were regularised on Tuesday, according to a gazette notification of the law ministry.

The eight are: Justice SM Mozibur Rahman, Justice Amir Hossain, Justice Khizir Ahmed Choudhury, Justice Razik-Al-Jalil, Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty, Justice Md Iqbal Kabir, Justice Md Salim and Justice Md Shohrowardi.

They along with two others were appointed as additional HC judges on February 12, 2015, for two years. Of the 10 additional judges, services of eight judges had been confirmed by the president. Justice JN Deb Chowdhury died and the job of Farid Ahmed Shibli had not been regularised, a law ministry official told The Daily Star, wishing not to be named.

The official, however, could not say why Farid had not been regularised as a permanent judge of the HC.   Contacted, Law Minister Anisul Huq said he did not know the reason why Farid's job had not been regularised.

In its press release yesterday, the law ministry said the president appointed the eight additional judges as permanent judges of the HC in consultation with Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha as per article 95 of the constitution.

Their appointments would be effective from the date of their taking oath, the press release said.

Chief justice's private secretary Anisur Rahman told this correspondent that the date for administering the oath of the eight HC judges was yet to be set.
