HC gets 10 additional judges
Ten additional judges were appointed to the High Court (HC) Division of the Supreme Court yesterday, raising the number of HC judges to 97.
President Abdul Hamid made the appointment for two years as per Article 98 of the constitution, law ministry sources said. The new judges are Deputy Attorneys General Rajik Al Jalil, Bhismadeb Chakrabarti, Md Selim and Md Sohrawardi, Supreme Court lawyers Khijir Ahmed Chowdhury, Jyotirmoy Narayan Deb Chowdhury and Md Iqbal Kabir Lytton, Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Chittagong SM Mojibur Rahman, Supreme Court Registrar Md Farid Ahmed Shibli and District and Sessions Judge of Gazipur Amir Hossain.
The Awami League-led grand alliance government has so far appointed 68 HC judges after assuming power in 2009.
