Four Huji-B men held in Gazipur
Police yesterday claimed to have arrested four suspected members of Harkatul Jihad al Islami, Bangladesh (Huji-B) along with 14 petrol bombs and four crude bombs in Nandoain area of Gazipur city.
They are Shahidullah, 43, and Aminul Haq, 49, of Tangail, Khairul Islam, 26, of Gazipur, and Golam Kibria Khan, 25, of Mymensingh.
Harun-or-Rashid, superintendent of police in Gazipur, said the members of the banned militant outfit were arrested during a raid at an abandoned cottage inside a forest in Joydevpur around 8:00pm on Thursday.
The arrestees had gathered there to plan subversive activities.
At a press briefing at his office, the SP said during primary interrogation, Shahidullah admitted that he had gone to Arakan of Myanmar to "embrace martyrdom".
Asked how long Shahidullah had been in Arakan, the police official said the arrestee was giving conflicting information in this regard.
“Sometimes, he is saying it is three months, sometimes six months,” he said, adding, police would get to know the correct information only after interrogated Shahidullah.
The SP added that Khairul and Kibria are former students of Islamic Institute of Technology in Gazipur, and both are engineers.
The police official also claimed that the two used to make explosives.
About Aminul, the SP said he used to brainwash students of schools, colleges and universities and motivate them to join militancy through jihadi books.
During the raid by a special team, police also seized three sharp weapons, some electronics devices and some jihadi books from the cottage, he added.
