Christmas specials on television

As Bangladesh celebrates Christmas through numerous events and traditional festivities, top TV channels of the country are set to air different special programmes today.

The tele-fiction, Je Jibon Jiboner, written by Golam Rabbani and directed by Jayanta Rozario, will be aired on Desh TV at 9 pm. It stars Shampa Reza and FS Nayeem among others.

The biopic, Jishu Eshechhilo, Ashben, focusing on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, will be aired on My TV from 11:15 am onwards. Directed by Kamrul Hasan Nasim, the film features Rudro Huq and Moutushi Biswas in the roles of Jesus and Mary, respectively. Noted actors Tauhid Islam and Jayanta Chattopadhyay also star in key roles.

The dance show, Aji Shubhodine, featuring young artistes of the dance troupe Kolpotoru, will be televised on Duronto Television at 9 pm. The show is produced by Tofail Sarker. On the other hand, the animated film, Frozen in Time, dubbed in Bangla, will be aired on the channel from 10 pm onwards. In the film, time repeats an endless loop of Christmas Day when young siblings Eric and Patty Purtle break a mysterious clock belonging to their grandfather.

The talk show, Probhu Jishur Shubhoagomon, hosted by actor Kalyan Corraya, will be aired on BanglaVision at 6:30 pm. Fr James Shyamol Gomez, CSE, and Chef Victor Gomez will talk about Christmas on the show.

Interestingly, Bangladesh Television will celebrate their 55th birth anniversary on Christmas Day. On the occasion, the musical show, Pop Tune, conceptualised by Sumon Saha, will be aired on the channel after the 8 pm Bangla News. Renowned singers Ferdous Wahid, Fakir Alamgir, Mehreen and Sabbir among others will perform on the show. The performing artistes will pay tributes to Azam Khan, Pilu Momtaz, Lucky Akhand, Happy Akhand and Ayub Bachchu. Foad Nasser Babu is the music director of the show.
