The film industry eyes a cautious comeback
After months of sedentary, the cameras in film shootings have finally started to roll. It is a silver lining for the film industry as its actors, directors, producers, and shooting crew are finally being able to work, albeit maintaining caution against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC), which was silent with vacant corridors since the outbreak of the virus, is slowly being re-introduced to bumbling activity. The shooting for the Shamim Ahmed Rony's upcoming venture Tungiparar Miabhai is already at full swing at BFDC. The film, based on the transition of a young boy from Gopalganj to becoming the Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, also marks the return of much-loved child actor Prarthana Fardin Dighi on the silver screen as the female lead. The crew will soon set up their tents outside the megacity of Dhaka as well. "After days, I finally feel alive again," says the actor.
Mahiya Mahi is also looking forward to a similar experience with her upcoming release, Nawab LLB. The actor has promised back-to-back schedule dates for this production. The diva will be sharing the screen with superstar Shakib Khan in the film, directed by Anonno Mamum. "We are currently shooting at Jagannath University," says the director. "Safety is our prime concern, and I assure the audience that we are all very aware of our safety during the shoots."
Chayanika Chowdhury's directorial debut Bishwo Shundorii, starring Siam Ahmed and Pori Moni, was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The duo is ready to work together again in Abu Raihan Jewel's Adventures of Sundarbans. The shooting of this film is already complete and is currently in post-production.
After Sadika Parvin Popy nodded 'yes' to Bhalobashar Projapoti, the crew has been continuously shooting at an indoor location in Uttara, Dhaka. Featuring Shipon Mitra opposite Popy, the film is produced by Impress Telefilm Limited.
Bappy Chowdhury is also getting ready to return to the sets of his upcoming film Secret Agent. The shooting for this production will soon resume in full swing, informs the film's director Shafi Uddin Shafi.
Ananta Jalil and Afiea Nusrat Barsha will soon be flying to Turkey to shoot for their film Din - The Day. The film is directed by Turkish director Murtaza Otash Jamjam and is jointly produced by the lead cast.
Dipankar Dipon is ready to wrap-up the shoots his star-studded film Operation Sundarbans. He is also planning to start shooting for a new production.
Badiul Alam Khokon, General Secretary of Bangladesh Film Directors Association shared his perception in this regard. "Taking one step at a time, we are going back to the old ways. I hope we soon get back to where it all stopped," he says.
