Six expatriate dancers to raise social awareness on coronavirus on International Dance Day
The coronavirus pandemic has brought the world essentially to a standstill. As a way of spreading hope amid the crisis, six expatriate Bangladeshi dancers are set to present the online production, 'COVID Ke Korbo Joy Eksathey Mora Neiko Bhoy', from their homes, on April 29, marking International Dance Day.
Jointly produced by Quadrey Dance Troupe and Dharon Nrityasangstha, dancers Refaya Zaman Priya (USA), Nafiza Rahman Mou (Russia) Suman Mandal (India), Mehedi Munna (Canada), Susmita Saha (Poland) and Mahfuz Quadrey (Bangladesh) will participate in the production, which will go live on social media after 12 noon on April 29. Mahfuz Quadrey and Nafiza Rahman Mou have planned and directed the dance recital.
The production will feature classical fusion, shedding light on Bangladesh. "We are now living in different countries for our education. In this situation, we are missing our motherland, parents, families and homes," said Nafiza Rahman Mou over the phone. "We believe that dance is not meant for merely entertainment. It also carries powerful messages of peace and social consciousness. Through dance, the production aims to educate audiences about caring for nature."
