Remembering the legendary Humayun Faridee
Celebrated actor and thespian Humayun Faridee had won over the audience and critics alike with his comic timing, natural acting, and iconic dialogues. Starting from theatre to television and finally the silver screen, the actor aced it all. Today marks the birth anniversary of this legendary actor.
Fans have been wishing him on his birthday on Facebook since this morning. The entertainment industry has also been posting tributes, wishes, and memoirs on their social media accounts.
"There is no death of an artist like Humayun Faridee. He will survive for generations to come," shares popular actor Ferdousi Majumder. "His only competitor is the actor himself. Wishing him a very happy birthday for afar."
Fridi had played the iconic character of Kankata Romzan n the popular television series "Songsoptok". This role not only made him famous but also earned him lifelong friends. Noted actor Mamunur Rashid has appeared in "Songsoptok" with Fadiri.
"Faridee was indeed one of the most talented actors I have ever come across in my career. He absorbed the role not only with his brain but seemed like his whole body was trying to justify the character he portrayed on screen," says Manunur Rashid. "His untimely demise has indeed been a great loss, a loss that I especially feel on his birthday."
His one-hour BTV drama "Achin Brikkho", written by Humayun Ahmed, was one of the most widely praised plays. He had played the role Subarna Mustafa's husband in this play. He was also seen in the role of a police officer in the trending teleserial "Kothao Keu Nei". He has appeared in many other notable television productions, including "Bhangoner Shobdo Shuni".
Humayun Faridee ruled over the theatre stage when he performed with his team Dhaka Theatre. He has appeared in several hit productions, including "Kirtonkhola", "Muntasir Fantasy", "Keramat Mangal". He has even directed a play called "Bhoot".
Renowned actor Raisul Islam Asad has acted in many plays with him on stage. "He was what we call a real artiste," says the actor. "We have walked together in this industry for decades and I wish peace upon him."
The names Faridee and Afzal Hossain were parallel famous during the nineties and everyone was aware of the great bond the two actors shared. "He was my friend, my confidante, and one of my favourite faces on screen," says Afzal Hossain. "We could talk for hours, discussing art and culture and learn so much from each other. I miss him very much indeed."
Humayun Faridee passed on February 13, 2012, at his residence after a long battle with chronic lung disease. He has last appeared in "Dohon".
