Noted singer Jane Alam passes away

Noted singer Jane Alam passed away today (March 2) at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital around 10 pm. The 65 year old was under treatment at the facility.

The news was confirmed by the owner of CD Choice, Zahirul Islam Sohel. According to Sohel, he was affected by Covid-19, and was under treatment at the hospital for a month. He was also struck by pneumonia at the time.

After his condition deteriorated today, he was put under life support, after which he unfortunately passed away.

Born in Manikganj's Harirampur, Jane Alam started singing soon after independence. He gained popularity after his first album, 'Bonmali'. The artiste, inpired by guru Azam Khan, went on to sing 4,000 songs in his career including hits like 'Ekti Gondomer Lagiya', 'Ishkul Khuleche', 'Amar Antoray','Boishakhe Tomar Shathe', among many others.
