Noman Robin’s ‘Blossoms from Ash’ wins Special Jury Remi Award
Bangladeshi filmmaker Noman Robin's film, Blossoms from Ash, a research-based political documentary on the history and genocide of Rohingya refugees, won the Special Jury Remi Award at the 53rd Annual WorldFest- Houston International Film Festival 2020. The film has been produced by the Blum Family Foundation of America in 2018.
Earlier, Spielberg, George Lucas, John Lee Hancock, Ang Lee, The Coen Brothers and many other renowned filmmakers got the award. "This is undoubtedly the highest achievement of my film career so far. The WorldFest is the oldest independent film festival in the world and is regarded as the 'Oscars' for documentary films," said Noman Robin. "I am very proud to be the first Bangladeshi Remi Award winner. I dedicate this award to our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Her strong role in the Rohingya issues has taken the value and image of Bangladesh to greater heights."
The executive producer of the film, Alexander Blum, conveyed his thanks to cinematographer Sarun Manandhar, editor Christopher Clinton Kubi, narrator Shafayet TJ Faraizi, music director Prottoy Khan, sound designer Kamrul Hasan, co-producer Mahamadul Hassan Sumon, post-production supervisor Shammo Sabur, researchers David Kenny and Tanvir Rashid, line producer Ahad and all other members involved in the project.
