‘An Evening of Rabindra Sangeet’ held in Moulvibazar
Cultural organisation Surer Vela in Moulvibazar hosted a solo musical soiree titled, An Evening of Rabindra Sangeet, at M Saifur Rahman Auditorium, Moulvibazar, recently. The evening featured performances by eminent Tagore singer Shreya Guhathakurta from India and renowned singer Nurul Islam.
The musical soiree was inaugurated by Nazia Shirin, Deputy Commissioner of Moulvibazar and acclaimed singer and President of Surer Vela, Ranjit Datta Joni delivered the welcome speech. “Shreya’s melodious voice and spontaneity impressed everyone. The musicians supporting her on stage were also phenomenal,” he said. Journalists, singers, and Rabindra Sangeet fans were present at the event, among others.
Shreya rendered several songs at the event including, Borisho Dhora Majhe, Je Rate Mor Duar Guli, Ki Shur Baje Amar Prane, Bajilo Kaharo Bina, and Aha Tomar Shonge Praner Khela.
Trained under Tagore exponents Suchitra Mitra and Konika Bandopadhyay, Shreya’s lineage to Rabindra Sangeet dates way back into her childhood. Her grandfather was the founder of the noted Rabindra Sangeet schools Dakshini and Geetobitan. Over the years, the artiste has recorded several albums and has also won the Shyamal Sen Smriti Samman award.
