Ekushey Padak winning writer Rashid Haider passes away
Renowned writer Rashid Haider passed away at his residence in Dhaka at 8:30 am today. He was 80 years old at the time of passing. Rashid Haider was the director of Bangla Academy and former executive director of Nazrul Institute. He received the Ekushey Padak in 2014 for his contributions to the cultural arena.
Originally from Pabna, the esteemed writer left behind his wife and two daughters -- both teachers of the University of Dhaka. He was suffering from old age complications in his final days. Family sources informed that he will be buried in Dhaka around 12:30 pm.
