“Biography of Nazrul” to premiere on BTV tomorrow
May 25 is the birth anniversary of our national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. As part of the celebrations, docufilm "Biography of Nazrul" will be aired on Bangladesh Television (BTV) at 10:15 am.
The 94-minute film, directed by Ferdous Khan, shows the life of the 'Bidrohi' poet through the discussions of various renowned faces in the country, including Anisul Haque, Khalid Hossain, and Uma Kazi, daughter-in-law of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, among many others.
The documentary, produced by Al Amin Khan and aided by the guidance of Ikram Ahmed, former executive director of the Poet Nazrul Institute, premiered at the Blockbuster Cinema in Jamuna Future Park on November 20 last year. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury MP and State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid inaugurated the film. National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University Vice Chancellor Professor ASM Mostafizur Rahman, was also present at the premiere show, among others. A few weeks later, the production was aired at Star Cineplex.
The production company Nazrul Center was looking forward to arranging the screening of "Biography of Nazrul" at various educational institutions and Bengali community abroad, including Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. However, the plan was halted until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"This film is produced with the support of Ratnodweep Resort , TVS Auto, Universal Foods ,Bioxin and Mumtaz," shares producer Al Amin Khan who is also one of the founding members of Nazrul Centre. "To bring it to the people, we decided to launch it nationally and internationally on BTV in association with Evaly."
"Biography of Nazrul" received clearance from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board on July 29, 2020. Following this, a 4-minute trailer of the documentary was released online at the end of August.
Asaduzzaman Noor and Pragya Laboni have lent their voices in the production. The subtitles have been done by Masum Billah, Associate Professor of English, Jagannath University. Edited by Moin Al Helal Supal and captured on camera by Asad and Rajib, Pintu Ghosh has worked on the background music for this documentary.
