Today marks the 72nd birthday of freedom fighter, actor extraordinaire and Minister of Cultural Affairs, Asaduzzaman Noor. A legendary name in the television and film industry of Bangladesh, he became a household name with his role of Baker Bhai in the famed Humayun Ahmed adaptation of Kothao Keu Nei. The character of Chhoto Mirza in Ayomoy is also one of the many memorable ones he portrayed on television. He also had numerous memorable stints with theatre troupe Nagorik, with his most notable role being the titular character in Nurul Din er Shara Jibon. After his gradual shift to politics, Asaduzzaman Noor fulfilled his role as Minister of Cultural Affairs with earnestness, taking huge strides in the cultural development of the country.
