Alleges Rizvi; accuses law enforcers of aiding in intimidation
BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi yesterday alleged that pro-Awami League men in cooperation with law enforcers and local administration were threatening and harassing BNP men in different areas across the country ahead of the fourth phase of upazila elections.
Besides, the Election Commission (EC) is working to make pro-AL candidates victorious in the polls, he told a press conference at the BNP's headquarters in the capital.
"The ruling party cadres are using muscle and threatening voters and BNP men in different areas, including Jessore and Khulna. Law enforcers and local administration are cooperating with the Awami League cadres," he said.
Even, law enforcers are conducting drives from door to door and threatening to kill BNP men in cross-fire, if they do not flee the electoral areas, Rizvi claimed. "Despite filing written complaints with the EC and local administrations, we did not get any remedy," he added.
