Accord inked to take away weapons: Santu Larma

Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) President Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma today said the CHT Peace Accord was signed to take away the weapons of indigenous people.
The government has cheated the indigenous people by not implementing the treaty in the last 17 years, he alleged.
The indigenous leader popularly known as Santu Larma was speaking at a discussion on the occasion of 17th anniversary of signing of the Peace Accord between the Awami League-led government and the PCJSS on December 2, 1997.
PCJSS organised the event at Sundarban Hotel in the capital.
“The people, who say the peace accord has been implemented, do not even know what is in the treaty,” he said. “The truth is we have been cheated.”
The PCJSS on November 29 threatened to wage non-cooperation movement against the government if sincere efforts are not taken to make progress in implementing the accord.
