A sad death

A mentally challenged youth died when he jumped into a river in a bid allegedly to escape a mob beating at Binodpur village in Sherpur upazila on Saturday.
Locals recovered the body of Rezaul Karim, 29, son of late Safur Uddin of Gholagari village, around 9:00pm, the same night.
Rezaul beat up four villagers, including two children in Shahebbari area of the village on Saturday noon. At this, 10/12 villagers become aggrieved and started to beat him mercilessly.
At one stage of the mob beating, Rezaul escaped from their clutch and jumped into the nearby Bangalee River, to avoid torture and drowned.
