75 injured as rival groups clash in Sunamganj
At least 75 people were injured in a clash between two rival groups in Doarabazar upazila of Sunamganj district yesterday morning.
The injured were admitted to Doarabazar Upazila Health Complex and Sunamganj Sadar Hospital.
Police and locals said there was a longstanding conflict between one Akhter Hossain of Kanchanpur village and Jamal Uddin of Rajonpur village over establishing supremacy in the area.
The clash took place at 7:00am when the supporters of Jamal attacked Akhter in Doalia Madrasa field area of the upazila.
The rival groups equipped with lethal weapons swooped on each other, leaving 75 people from both sides injured.
Being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
