4 die in Gazipur road crash
Four people including two siblings were killed and three injured as a human hauler crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur last night.
The deceased are Parvin Akter, 35, her brother Jasim Uddin, 30, auto-rickshaw driver Faruk, 25, and a mentally challenged man whose name could not be known immediately, reports our Gazipur correspondent.
The human hauler first hit the mentally challenged man while he was crossing a road in Jamirar Char area around 9:00pm, police said quoting witnesses.
The out of control vehicle then crashed into the oncoming auto-rickshaw, leaving six people critically injured, they added.
The Leguna driver and mentally retarded person were declared 'brought dead' when they were taken to Kapasia Upazila Health Complex, said Nazmul Huda, a sub-inspector of Kapasia Police Station.
Parvin and Jasim, who were rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, succumbed to their injuries around 1:00am today, he said.
The injured victims were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, he added.
