3 women killed by 'husbands'
Three women have been killed allegedly by their husbands in Sirajganj, Bogra and Moulvibazar districts.
Police recovered the throat-slit body of a housewife from the bank of the Jamuna River in Soyadabad area of Sirajganj town on Sunday morning, reports our Pabna correspondent.
The deceased was identified as Jesmin Ara, 27, wife of Enamul Haque alias Russel of Jamitra village in Shahzadpur upazila. She went missing from Saturday.
Police in separate drives on Tuesday arrested Russel and his two associates-- Saiful Islam and Minhz Uddin—on charge of killing Jesmin.
As Jesmin protested Russel's bid to second marriage, he along with his associates stabbed her dead and dumped the body in the bank of the river, said sub-inspector of Sirajganj Sadar police station Md Dulal Hossain, investigation officer of the case.
In Bogra, a housewife was hacked to death allegedly by her husband at Pabohara village in Kahaloo upazila on Sunday night, reports our correspondent.
The deceased is Ismat Ara, 40, wife of Abubakkar Siddik of the village. She was mother of three children.
Police and family sources said Ismat quarreled with her husband for his late coming in the house each night. At one stage of altercation, Siddik attacked his wife with an axe, leaving her seriously injured.
She was rushed to the upazila health complex where on duty doctors declared her dead, said officer in-charge (Investigation) of Kahaloo police station Kamruzzaman Mia.
Police arrested Siddik in connection with the killing, said the OC.
Away in Moulvibazar, a pregnant woman was killed allegedly by her husband in Phultola Tea garden area under Juri upazila on Tuesday.
The dead is Sabitri Bunarji, 35, wife of Sagor Bunerji of the area, reports our correspondent
Family sources said Sagor attacked Sabitri with a sharp weapon, leaving her dead on the spot following an altercation over a trivial matter.
Later, Sagor was arrested on charge of killing his wife, said police.
