Police arrested three activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir and seized 134 crude bombs and a huge amount of bomb-making materials raiding a mess in the capital's Mohammadpur area early today.

The identities of the arrestees could not be known immediately.

Police along with the arrestees are now conducting drives in different parts of the capital to arrest their cohorts, the DC told The Daily Star around 9:45am.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at a mess where the activists of Shibir, the student body of Jamaat-e-Islami, used to reside, said Biplob Kumar Sarkar, deputy commissioner of Tejgaon Division.

The recovery and arrest was made from the mess at Sultana Razia Road shortly after the midnight, the police official added.

At least 60 crude bombs could be made from the bomb-making materials which were seized from the mess, the DC said.

The law enforcers managed to nab three out of the eight Shibir activists, who were living in the mess, the police official added.
