Business leaders again urge Jalil, Bhuiyan for crisis solution
Top business leaders once again urged BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan and Awami League (AL) General Secretary Abdul Jalil to come to a solution in the ongoing dialogue by October 23.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Mir Nasir Hossain, International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh President Mahbubur Rahman, and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association former president Annisul Huq last night met the secretaries general of ruling BNP and main opposition AL and made the request.
"We have earnestly requested them [Bhuiyan and Jalil] to come to a consensus over the electoral reforms and the issue of caretaker government chief," Annisul Huq told The Daily Star.
They also told the two political leaders that an anarchical situation will be created in the country if the dialogue fails and the politicians will be responsible for this.
The dialogue has to be completed successfully by October 23, the business leaders told Bhuiyan and Jalil.
"Both the two leaders have assured us that they would try their best to come to a solution after the return of their party chiefs," he added.
