BNP programmes on Zia's death anniversary
Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has drawn up a 10-day programme to observe the 24th death anniversary of its founder-chairman and president Ziaur Rahman. The death anniversary will be observed on May 30 across the country.
BNP and its front organisations have already published posters on the occasion, a party press release said.
As part of the 10-day programme, a discussion on the "Life and Works" of president Zia will be held at the Mahanagar Natyamancha on Sunday at 4:00pm. Party leaders and renowned personalities will take part in the discussion.
Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is expected to attend the function.
On May 30, black flags will be hoisted atop all party offices across the country while the party flags will fly at half-mast. Qurankhwani will also be held at the party's central office and the mazar of president Zia on the day.
Leaders and workers of BNP and the party's front organisations will place wreaths at his mazar at 10:00am on the day.
Special munajat will be offered at all mosques while special prayers will be held at all temples and churches across the country to seek eternal peace of the departed soul of president Zia.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will distribute Tabarak among the poor and the destitute on May 30 and 31 at different places of Dhaka city.
The party's front organisations will hold discussions from May 31 to June 7 separately.
