4 injured in water tank collapse

Four persons, including two women, were wounded when part of a brick-made water tank from the rooftop of a six-storey building collapsed on an adjacent two-storey tin-shaded house at Mirpur in the city yesterday.

Witnesses said the tank, full of water collapsed at about 12:00pm breaking into two tin-shaded rooms of the house 2/H, 2/19.

Among the wounded, Piyara Begum, 32, is being treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital for her head injuries while Harun, Amena Begum alias Amena Begum and Nazim Uddin took first aid from local clinics.

"I hard a bang like thunderbolt and immediately found thigh-deep water on the floor," said Abdul Khaleq Dhali, owner of the damaged house.

Police said owner of the six- storey building have been absconding since the collapse.
